CUPS Driver InformationThis document provides information for the newly-released drivers only for Mac OS X v10.5 or later (hereinafter called CUPS drivers) as compared to the current drivers (lower than 10.0.0.0).CUPS Driver Outline- Canon-made CUPS drivers operate in Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard) or later only. The CUPS drivers cannot be installed in Mac OS X v10.4 or earlier.- The version numbers for the CUPS drivers are displayed with 4 digits starting from 10.0.0.0.- The User interface (UI) is essentially the same as the current driver (lower than 10.0.0.0). The same goes for its operation.Note: The Color Options screen does not have the 'Color Correction' pop-up menu. Color correction must be done from the application.- With the Mac OS X v10.5 specifications, the CUPS drivers are automatically selected by priority, and are registered as a printer driver to be used.
The only Canon Printers with pre-installed CUPS drivers are the Pro9000 and Pro9500. This is only true if no printer drivers have been registered. When the current driver (lower than 10.0.0.0) is already registered, it is selected by priority.- Use the CUPS drivers in the following cases only:. When performing 16-bit color printing. When printing from 64-bit applicationsDifferences from the current drivers (lower than 10.0.0.0)- The Color Options screen does not have the 'Color Correction' pop-up menu. Color correction must be done from the application.- Printing operation in 16-bit per channel. (New function)- Full support of printing functions in 64-bit applications.
